I decided to take the test because I thought I had a sensitivity to wheat; I felt bloated and tired when I ate wheat bread and tried to eat alternatives such as rye bread and oat cakes. However, the test showed that I had a gluten intolerance and should avoid not just wheat but oats, barley and rye! If I hadn’t have taken the test I would never have realized this.

Immediately after the test I embarked on a gluten free diet. For two days I had a mild headache but after this I immediately noticed a difference. My bloated stomach had gone down and I had significantly more energy – getting out of bed in the morning wasn’t such a struggle and doing physical tasks around the house didn’t feel so onerous – I was even doing my ironing at 6.30am one morning!

After one month on a gluten free diet I have lost 9lbs, which I’d had difficulty shifting before. I don’t get the cravings for wheat-based foods such as bread, cakes and biscuits which I use to get, especially when I was stressed with work. This means I am more in control of my eating habits and I don’t over eat or eat the wrong foods as I am absorbing the nutrients more efficiently from the food I eat. My diet is therefore much healthier and I feel better.

I am delighted with the results and have recommended the test to family and friends as it has significantly changed my life. I am currently training for the 26 mile Moonwalk next month in London and having more energy and feeling more positive means I can fit the training into a busy daily schedule, which involves running my own business and a young son.”

Having suffered from digestive problems and low energy for a couple of years, I decided to have a consultation and health screening with Dave. he conducted a number of tests using the Asyra Pro machine. This highlighted a problem with gluten.

Having adhered to a gluten-free diet for a few weeks, I was delighted when my symptoms disappeared and my energy levels markedly increased.

I had been suffering from a muscle weakness since I was about 18, I realised this when I nearly dropped my friends baby. From that moment I decided that I would not be able to have children through fear of dropping them or that I might not be able to carry a child whilst pregnant. For a long time I didn’t hold any of my friends or relatives babies, through fear of dropping them also. After many years of visiting my doctor to be told “there’s nothing wrong” I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, (MG). What a relief, it wasn’t me being a hypochondriac! But after having an untold amount of tests, (some quite horrific) and being prescribed many different drugs, (one of them being a steroid), all with side effects, the doctors decided that I didn’t have this illness after all. This was the point I decided to do something about it myself.

In the year 2000 I rang Signs of Life to book a food intolerance and vitamin deficiency test as I thought that just maybe something I was eating was affecting me. The results came back that I had Candida Albicans and my body had hardly any vitamins, probably a result of being prescribed unnecessary steroids for MG. Dave advised me to go on a special diet, which I must admit didn’t contain much, and to take certain tablets to kill off the Candida and to build up my body’s vitamins again. I was very sceptical but followed his advise……boy am I glad I did, I felt stronger almost straight away. Although I lost quite a lot of weight, I felt stronger and had more energy than I had had for years! I wanted to give Dave the biggest hug ever. I followed the diet for approximately 6 months and then gradually introduced the food I had omitted bit by bit; if I had a reaction I simply stopped eating it for a bit longer and re introduced it at a later date.

At the end I felt so good and strong that I decided that I would be able to have children and went on to have two perfectly healthy children.

Thank you Dave for all your help, if it wasn’t for you I don’t think I would ever have felt strong enough to have children.

The first time I experienced symptoms was about 13 /14 years ago. Every time I had tea and toast I felt bloated and sometimes nauseated. This went on for some time as I didn’t know what it was,
For the past 2 to 3 years I have felt that my symptoms have been affecting my health, feeling tired with an increase in headaches and bloated all the time. But the condition that really prompted me to visit my GP was my constant coughing and sore throat. After several visits to the hospital, I was examined and referred to St Thomas hospital London to have the Acid reflux checked, year later I was non the wiser and the consultant couldn’t give me any explanation and said there was nothing that he could do.

My headaches increased, my coughing got worse and my mouth tasted vile. I had come to the conclusion that it had to be connected to my diet. This is when I decided to have my allergies checked, I had the intolerance test with yourself and Vivien, taking your advice I went wheat, gluten, and dairy free for a month, no headaches and felt better in myself, the only problem that remained was my cough. It did ease off slightly, but at night and sometimes during the day, I was still coughing, This is when I brought it to your attention as to why it was not clearing. With your advice regarding cutting down on starch and eating more fruit and raw vegetables and why starch promotes mucus, it made sense.

It has been hard following the strict diet and at times frustrating, but considering how much I suffered I think its worth it. My coughing has eased off at least 85%. I work in an office it was very embarrassing coughing all the time and not even having a cold or the flu. I have been sleeping well through the night. I know that I am on the right track, and as long as I look after myself I will get better each day, I have even started to like the raw vegetables. I owe you a big thank you Dave.

Since suffering from a heart problem I was anxious to do everything I could in order to hasten my recovery and increase my resistance to further problems in the future. I sought advice from Dave, and he certainly lived up to his nickname, the ‘food detective’. After analysing my diet he devised a programme for me that has helped to aid my recovery. I have now re-joined my local gym, where I am also following a recovery programme. The combination of good nutrition and exercise has helped me a lot.

Dear Dave
I wanted to let you know that I am now feeling so much better since following your advice on my diet. I have more energy and enthusiasm for doing things and I am feeling so much fitter. Fruit and vegetables and essential vitamins seem to have worked their magic in reducing my blood pressure. It was a bit hard at first cutting down on certain foods! Thank you for the time and care you took over my health programme. It really has worked.

Love and best wishes

Thanks Dave; after trying all the fad diets and wasting a fortune on medicines that just didn’t do it for me, your commonsense approach to eating (note I said eating and not dieting) have done the job. My lifelong sinus problem has gone as you promised! And I have lost a stone in weight; the bonus being that I can eat virtually as much as I want (but not the foods you advised against). As a non-believer I just had to let you know and say thanks.

Hi David,

I wanted to let you know that we have a good news story in the making. Since I saw you I have given up Gluten and only have the Gluten Free biscuits very occasionally as I know they are not great, I have also balanced out my protein and veg.

I measured my waist this morning and I have lost 2 inches, I no longer get the dreadful tired waves coming over me and haven’t had any itching. I don’t seem to have any cravings for anything now and just manage quite happily on structured meals and two ‘good’ snacks a day without grazing all the time. I have increased my carbs by way of veg but also have gluten free oat cakes and rice cakes without them having an effect on my weight and I pack Gluten free products, nuts and fruit to take away with me rather than touch food with gluten. I haven’t had a diet coke in 3 weeks and have found a love for sparkling water.

A big thank you to you for finding the key and encouraging me to put it in the lock and turn it!

Best regards,

“My consultation with Dave resulted in me making changes to my diet which I would never have considered otherwise. The results have been quite impressive. Increased energy, steady but continued weight loss, improved mood and quicker recovery from illness. My athletic performance has improved far beyond the level I had hoped to achieve in such a short period of time. I can not recommend his services highly enough !”

“Dear Dave, thanks for all of your help with my back, it was very good of you to come out of your way to give me your laser treatment.
After nearly 2 years of constant pain it’s such a relief to start to feel normal again. As you know, the prognosis from the back specialist wasn’t good as they’d diagnosed my condition as a degenerative disc and I’m amazed that after just 3 laser treatments I was 95% better and free of pain except for a slight twinge, which completely disappeared after a final treatment”

Hi Dave,
Getting on really well. I’ve just had my first period since starting the no wheat trial and I’m absolutely amazed! Obviously that was one of my biggest problems and I have had no cramps whatsoever and everything has been much better. So I think I’m going to cut wheat out for longer just because it’s made such a difference to a situation that used to be so horrendous. Thank you so much!
